Construction of a 9.86 MW solar power plant in Saraorci, Serbia
On Friday May 24th, 2024, the largest solar power plant in Serbia was inaugurated in the small town of Saraorci. The company Boffetti Balcan (a company 100% owned by Boffetti S.p.A.) had the opportunity to be part of this project, implemented by the German company AVR Group, as the EPC executor of the electrical part.
The solar power plant covers an area of 12 hectares, with a total power of 9.86 MW which will be fed into the electricity distribution network. Between 60 and 70 people worked intensively for four months, starting in September 2023, on the construction of the Saraorci solar power plant; the latest activities were completed in May 2024.
For this project, Boffetti Balcan used 644 panel structures, and 18,032 photovoltaic modules installed on 7,728 poles. To interconnect the existing network, 35 km of KV cables and 65 km of DC cables were used to connect the modules to the inverters. Three electrical substations with 28 inverters were installed and 2.5 km of AC cables were used to connect them.
The expected annual production of the solar power plant has been declared to be 15.1 GWh, enough energy to power 2,400 domestic users. It is also important to highlight that an annual reduction in CO2 emissions of 17,500 tonnes is expected, which represents a significant environmental benefit and the first step towards greater environmental protection and sustainability in Serbia. Furthermore, the start of the construction of the second phase of the solar power plant with a total capacity of 1.5 MW, began in June 2024.
